After completing a bathroom remodel with us, this client called us back to address their too-narrow driveway and repurpose a bedroom.
Their property is a modest 25′ wide, typical San Francisco single family dwelling. The driveway was so tight they couldn’t open their car doors and had to contend with street parking. Widening the driveway would impact the entry stairs causing a ripple effect. So, they decided to explore solutions to improve exterior function, aesthetics and update the front bedroom to better match how they wanted to use the space.
We continued the roof of the front bay window over the entry stairs and built a new covered landing and steps. Inspired by the original arched entry alcove, we provided an arched timber-braced roof. We also converted the front bedroom to a multi-use media room or guest room.
